3. Fish

Visual plastics grows from some kind of mix included barbarian decoration of III-VIII Centuries and [paradoxally] Soviet Utopian avant-garde.
Animal style. Barbarian art. Incrustation.
Article «Visit of Barbarians» was inspired by the exhibition The Age of the Merovingians  - were published in the «Deco» Magazine, 2007 on art treasures of Barbarian invasion epoch (Early Middle Ages).

Salaries of old codexes in the Moscow Kremlin Armoury - cups, bowls, hilts of swords, precious harness horses, brooches, hryvnia, belt buckle decorated with garnets, almandine, pearls: everywhere we see the desire to cram the complete world into a small volume, to save in safety, protect from any accidents the most cherished items in a rapidly changing world.

2. Abstraction

Two major exhibitions seriously affected my pictorial method at the turn of the 80s and 90s.
First - refined designed exhibition 1989 of European New Realists «The Zero group» from The Lenz Schönberg Collection.
The second - a huge «The Great Utopia: The Russian and Soviet Avant-Garde, 1915-1932», which opened in 1993 (after decades of dull silence), Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century in its entirety.
So make the transition from «the world of flesh and bone» to the disembodied space of pure freedom and to the reality of boundlessness. Of course, this «pure delight» was spiced up a fair amount of irony, produced over the years to mass media access, refracted in the hyper-realism.

1. Hyperrealism

There was quite naturally way I came to hyperrealist method by the late educational years. The teachers instilled in me a taste for the detailed study of the human figure, and a plastic anatomy. I felt that those hours when the live model were posing for a studies are not enough. So I turned to the use of photography as a source.
